Preliminary Lineup Revealed for SXSW 2015
It's about that time of year to get excited about Austin's yearly music-discovery festival, South By Southwest. Earlier today, SXSW released its first round of official performers for 2015. Among the newly announced are Jessie Ware, Scott Weiland and The Wildabouts, Thee Oh Sees, Lydia, The Big Pink, Ben Kweller, Mew, Transit, Hey Marseilles and Civil Twilight. Full list of first rounders is available on SXSW official site.
The exhilarating festival will take place March 17 to 22 in the up-incoming music city Austin, Texas. SXSW stirred up some controversy earlier this month speculating that it may be banning unofficial shows, which would be a devestating blow to the festival. Half of the fun is going to the random shows after hours, right?! "The current policy of the city with respect to the permitting process as 'first come/first served' and/or 'must treat everyone equally' appears to have become detrimental to event planning process and management of the key stakeholder interests," reported TexasMonthly. "The SXSW event is one of the largest events in the world and bespoke treatment is needed to facilitate a continuing safe event in Austin." The rules may be a little different at this years SXSW festival, but be sure to check out the true reason the fest is held every year (music discovery).
